About Frances

I grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where I was raised with a deep sense of warmth and care. My practice as a postpartum doula is an extension of my passion for building community. With over five years of experience, I take immense pride in supporting families through the transformative journey of welcoming a new baby. Now based in the Bay Area, I have had the privilege of helping families in the region navigate the postpartum period with confidence and ease.

Frances Rosado Postpartum Doula

Mother care and healing are at the heart of my work as a postpartum doula. I am dedicated to supporting and nurturing the mother during the postpartum period because I know that when they are supported in their healing journey, the entire mother-baby dyad thrives. By tending to the well-being of my clients, I help create a strong foundation for both the postpartum recovery and the baby's development, ensuring that the family feels balanced, confident, and ready to embrace the beautiful journey ahead.

I have trained with Innate Traditions Postpartum Training, Cornerstone Doula Trainings, and Heart and Hands Midwifery Intensive, which have shaped my holistic approach to postpartum care. My support includes bodywork, herbal remedies, and nourishing dietary guidance, ensuring families feel cared for in mind, body, and spirit. By blending practical assistance with nurturing techniques, I aim to create a healing environment promoting wellness for parents and newborns. I speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

Newborn Care

I approach my work by focusing on guiding families through the early days of parenting with confidence and ease. Whether it’s supporting first-time parents as they navigate the many new experiences of caring for an infant or helping seasoned parents integrate a new baby into their family dynamic, I offer tailored care that meets each family’s unique needs. By providing practical tools, emotional encouragement, and compassionate support, I help families create a nurturing environment where both parents and babies can thrive. This support includes:

  • Educating parents about the basic needs of a newborn, such as feeding, soothing, and understanding sleep patterns, while addressing common concerns during this time.

  • Hands-on demonstrations and tips for families interested in babywearing to foster closeness and convenience.

My care for mothers and families is centered on nurturing an environment that fosters healing and connection. My goal is to provide a calm and restorative presence, ensuring families feel cared for and empowered in their postpartum journey. This support includes:

  • Light home tending, such as meal preparation and tidying, to ease the daily workload and allow families to focus on bonding with their newborn.

  • Bodywork to support the mother’s recovery and address postpartum discomfort and overall well-being

  • Promoting rest as a cornerstone of care, helping families establish rhythms that prioritize physical and emotional recovery during this transformative time.

I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Frances. We knew immediately after interviewing her
that she was the right fit for our family. Her warm, calm energy was exactly what we needed after a difficult pregnancy - and ended up being even more important after a traumatic birth and with a colicky newborn. During an incredibly difficult postpartum, we looked forward to every day that Frances was coming.
She is extremely knowledgeable about postpartum recovery and provided us with support in so many ways - from the basics of helping around the house and food preparation to showing us different nursing positions, infant bathing/massage, safe contact sleeping, and positions for gas/digestive relief for our little one. She also has extensive experience with newborns and was wonderful with our fussy boy, even during long bouts of inconsolable crying.
Frances also has a special focus on maternal recovery - both physical and emotional. She spent time each day supporting me through processing the trauma of my son's birth. She also made sure I prioritized time for my physical recovery - including giving me massages during each visit and carving out time for me to shower and nap. She even set up a special "first bath" for me and my son, complete with lovely flowers from our garden. I am so grateful for the time we worked with her - she's truly a special human and went so far beyond what we expected from a postpartum doula.

My husband and I do not have family close by and knew we would need all the help we could get when our first baby was born. We had the chance to interview Frances as our potential postpartum doula and it was clear it would be a great match from that moment. We worked with Frances both
during days and nights, and she was incredibly flexible in helping us find a schedule that worked for us. Frances was not only amazing at helping and reducing the workload of having a newborn - she demonstrated deep and intentional care towards our entire family. I cannot imagine our introduction to parenthood without Frances.

Frances started supporting my family the first day when we were discharged from hospital. She helped setup the nursery, taught us infant caring skills like bathing and cutting little fingernails, and cared for both the mom and baby. Frances always listened to and respected our needs, while providing suggestions where appropriate (e.g. clean baby's little fist more often). Frances also helped mom to relax from breast feed by massaging and heat pressing (with a homemade rice bag!).
